The key points of entry are: 11+ (Year 7), 13+ (Year 9) and 16+ (Sixth Form). Occasional places are available in 12+ (Year 8) and 14+ (Year 10).
There is the option to apply at 11+ and defer entry to start at 13+.
We are a selective school. Assessments are held early in the autumn term and offers of a place are made in December.
Entrance assessments take place in November the year before the student is due to join us. This includes those applying for a 13+ deferred place. Independent Schools Examination Board (ISEB) online tests are taken at the applicant’s current school if they are able to facilitate this, or at Woldingham. A school report will be requested from your daughter’s current school.
These are:
11+/13+ deferred - Online ISEB test in English, maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, a creative writing paper and an interview.
12+ - Online ATOM test in English, maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, a creative writing paper and an interview.
13+ & 14+ - Online ATOM test in English, maths and science, and an interview.
16+ - A general (critical thinking) Sixth Form entrance assessment and tests in two subjects to be studied at A Level.
For Sixth Form entry, applicants should have eight GCSEs/IGCSEs with an average of grade 5.5. For A Level maths, sciences, drama or languages grade 7 or above is required, and for other subjects grade 6 or above. We occasionally use discretion if a student misses this average but has qualities in particular areas of the curriculum and is prepared to select three A Level options which reflect her strengths.

International students sit our standard entrance assessments. These may be taken, with prior approval from the admissions team, at either the British Council offices, an accredited education recruitment agency or her current school.
Woldingham accepts the UKiset (UK Independent schools entry test) to support the admission process for international students. Applicants are asked to sit this test at one of their local accredited centres. If this is not possible, we will send the student the Clarity online English placement tests.
